A leading personal care brand focused on bringing everyday wellness to consumers through bath and other skincare products, Dr Teal’s has reiterated its commitment to quality as it continues to push back counterfeiting and fakery in the Nigerian market.
This assertion was made at the press briefing held in Lagos at the weekend to announce the relaunch of Dr Teal’s brand in Nigeria and the organisation’s efforts at battling counterfeiting in the market.
Having struggled with the devastating effect of counterfeiting, the brand in partnership with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Nigerian Police to combat counterfeiting menace that plagues the country.
To affirm the Nigerian consumers of its commitment to the country, and ensure continuous consumer satisfaction, Dr Teal’s has also gone ahead to introduce two new product ranges to the market.
Speaking at the media parley, the International Director, PDC Brands, David Schneider said that the brand’s need to relaunch in Nigeria is a move of reassurance to its audience, and a strong statement on its part to protect consumers interest following the wave of counterfeiting in the personal care brand industry.’
Furthermore, Mr. Schneider said “Dr Teal’s is 200% committed to fighting counterfeit in the market and as such we are working closely with regulatory councils in Nigeria and I praise the efforts of NAFDAC and the Nigerian police to implement strong actions.
“We have been investing and we have been taking actions,” he said, adding that “We have been going after counterfeiters and we are in the first phase of this fight and it is a big fight. We have just started the journey and we are uncovering the scale of counterfeit problems here,” he added.
Also speaking on the efficacy of Dr Teal’s brand, the Strategic Manager, Dr Teal’s, Mrs. Vivienne Odonfi- Daniel said, “At Dr Teal’s we have always believed wellness should play a part in everybody’s every day. She added that the relaunch comes after Dr Teal’s recent partnership with NAFDAC to raid counterfeiting factories and distribution stores in major locations in Lagos and other cities. “The relaunch would ensure that consumers can identify Dr Teal’s products without fear of buying less authentic products,” Odofin-Daniel revealed.
The Managing Director of Perfect Trust Cosmetics, Dr Teal’s major distributor in Nigeria Mr. Chinedu Okoye said, “Dr Teal’s has been actively combating counterfeiting to restore faith in the Nigerian consumer’s health safety. The brand has continued to champion skincare product authenticity and product quality and it is ever ready to lead the fight against the menace of fakery in this market.”
According to him, Dr Teal’s is partnering with regulators particularly NAFDAC to combat counterfeiting and lead consumers to complete everyday wellness as it is making true of its bold promise of quality, continuity, innovation, and care, without risk to the health of its users.”
However, Mr. Okoye cautioned consumers to desist from patronizing tablet soaps and baby lotion products with Dr Teal’s brand name because Dr Teal’s does not produce skincare products in tablet soap and does not have products for babies.”
