A renowned communication, branding, public relations and marketing expert and head, marketing and corporate communications at Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Babajide Sipe has left the west African financial powerhouse, Ecobank to join Bank of Industry Limited as its new group head, brand transformation and digital marketing.
Sipe announced his movement via his LinkedIn handle- Jide Sipe a few weeks ago.
Sipe, a Master’s Degree holder in Business Management with distinction from University of Portsmouth, the United Kingdom, begun his corporate life at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) in 2007 as an executive trainee but by 2009, the young Sipe was given the responsibility to organize the launch of GTBank UK and subsequently Liberia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
Having spent over 13 years at GTBank, Sipe moved to Heirs Insurance Group as brand manager in January 2021 but spent just a little over 6 months with the insurance company.
According to him, “I head the Brand Management & Marketing department of Heirs Insurance Limited & Heirs Life Assurance. Both companies are investee companies of the pan-African investment company Heirs Holdings. The companies are established to challenge traditional insurance by providing flexible, trusted, and accessible protection plans for individuals and businesses.”
Sipe who has been described by others as project management expert and product strategist then joined Ecobank Nigeria as head, marketing and corporate in June 2021 and ended his time with the bank this month, meaning he has spent 3 years 2 months.
Speaking about his time at Ecobank, he said, “By leading and enriching the Bank’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Department, my sole responsibility was to ensure that the Bank remains the go-to bank for Pan-African trade facilitation and payments. This would mean leveraging the full value of its unrivalled Pan-African footprint, promoting its digital platform capabilities and an extensive breadth of value-adding networks to create greater market access and financing opportunities for our customers and stakeholders.”
Sipe who is the new group head, brand transformation and digital marketing at BOI is responsible for repositioning the bank as a champion for sustainable development and economic growth.
“I lead the implementation of Bank of Industry’s brand strategy, positioning the bank as a champion of sustainable development and economic growth. My team and I are responsible for maintaining a strong brand reputation, creating engaging content and fostering meaningful connections with our stakeholders,” he wrote on his LinkedIn handle recently.
