…Unveils how technology and trust are building iconic African brands
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Prudential Plc, Catherine Nwosu, has reaffirmed the critical role of strategic leadership in building iconic, future-ready African brands that can compete globally.
Speaking at the Africa Brand Awards 2026 held in Lagos, themed “Building ICONIC Brands in Africa: The Strategic Roles of Business Leaders,” Nwosu, who was honoured as one of the winners, shared insights on how Africa Prudential is evolving from a traditional share registration company into a technology-driven capital market solutions powerhouse with over five decades of heritage.
Nwosu, a seasoned capital market professional who assumed leadership of the company in 2024 after serving in various strategic capacities, said iconic brands are built on clarity of purpose and consistent delivery.
“Building an iconic brand begins with clarity of purpose. A brand becomes enduring when people understand what it stands for, experience that promise consistently and trust the organisation behind it,” she said.

According to her, Africa Prudential’s transformation is anchored on three core principles: Execution, Enterprise and Excellence. These values, she noted, have guided the company’s deliberate investment in digital innovation to anticipate change rather than merely respond to it.
A flagship of this strategy is Sabivest, the company’s innovative digital platform designed to simplify investment management. Nwosu explained that Sabivest was created to address practical investor pain points such as fragmented investment information, limited portfolio visibility and challenges with dividends and investment-related services.
“Africa presents a unique combination of challenges and opportunities – a young, increasingly digital population with a growing appetite for investment, but also issues around financial literacy, accessibility and trust. Our strategy is to use technology to simplify the investor experience while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, governance and regulatory compliance,” she stated.
She emphasized that the company is strengthening its self-service capabilities, enabling shareholders to digitally update information, access dividend services and manage their investments seamlessly.
“The principle is simple: technology should not make finance more complicated; it should make it more accessible. We want to deliver solutions that understand the realities of African consumers while meeting global expectations for security, efficiency, transparency and service excellence,” Nwosu added.
On the legacy she is building, the Africa Prudential CEO said her focus transcends profitability.
“The legacy I want to build is one of trust, innovation and opportunity. Profitability is important, but the real measure of impact is reflected in the people and communities you touch, the opportunities you create and the confidence you inspire.”
She noted that by making capital market services easier to access and understand, Africa Prudential is democratizing wealth creation and strengthening confidence in Africa’s financial ecosystem, in line with the principle of Africapitalism – the capacity of the private sector to drive economic and social development.
Looking ahead, Nwosu expressed optimism about Nigeria and the capital market, noting that technology, data and digital platforms will reshape financial inclusion and investment participation.
“We are already positioning ourselves for this future through digital transformation, product optimisation, business diversification and stronger stakeholder engagement. Our greatest opportunity as a nation lies in our people – a young, entrepreneurial and increasingly connected population,” she said.
In a message to the next generation of African business leaders, Nwosu charged them to build with purpose and integrity.
“Think globally, but build from a deep understanding of Africa. Africa does not lack talent or ideas. Build with purpose. Invest in people. Embrace technology, but never lose sight of the human being you are serving. Maintain integrity even when it is difficult, because trust is one of the most valuable assets any organisation can build.”
“The next generation of global brands from Africa will be built by leaders who understand that excellence has no geographical boundary. We must believe that businesses created here can compete anywhere in the world – and then put in the discipline, innovation and consistency required to make that belief a reality,” she concluded.
