Agenmonmen charges marketers on ethical, genuine value delivery for consumers

· As Dettol, Goldberg shine at 2024 Nigerian Marketing Awards

The Founder, Nigerian Marketing Awards, Tony Agenmonmen has charged practitioners within the integrated marketing communications (imc) industry in Nigeria to uphold the tenet of authenticity in advancing the course of brand building and creating healthy communications for their brands despite the rapidly evolving technology driven environment.

He made this call during the 3rd edition of one of the leading industry award platforms in the country, Nigerian Marketing Awards held at Jewel Aeida Centre in Lekki Lagos recently.

Agenmonmen in his opening remark said; “The rise of Artificial Intelligence is transforming the face of marketing, creating new opportunities for understanding and engaging consumers. AI is enabling us to gain insights at unprecedented levels, allowing us to personalize experiences, automate tasks, and make more data-driven decisions.”

He added, “As we embrace this technology, we must also remember the importance of staying authentic, ethical, and focused on delivering genuine value to our consumers. AI is a powerful tool,” he enthused “But it is the heart and vision of each marketer that turns technology into transformation.”

According to him, “As we reflect on the theme ‘Ignite’, let us also recognize the rapidly changing environment in which we operate. The pace of technological advancements is unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Speaking to the fast changing environment, the former Nigerian Breweries marketing manager stated that “We also find ourselves in an era where climate change has become one of the most pressing issues of our time. As marketing professionals, we have a responsibility not only to adapt but to lead. Consumers today are more conscious than ever of the environmental impact of the products and brands they support.”

“This shift presents us with an opportunity – and a responsibility – to communicate sustainability in meaningful ways, to champion brands that prioritize our planet, and to craft campaigns that drive awareness and inspire positive change. In the face of these challenges, marketing has the power to shape perspectives, influence behavior, and ignite a collective commitment to a more sustainable future,” he added.

To crown the eventful night, some brands stood out and won some memorable awards. Dettol stood out as a double winner, clinching Campaign of the Year with their “Big Bang Blossom” campaign and taking home the Fragrance of the Year award with Dettol Skin Care. Indomie Noodles was recognized for the Best CSR Campaign of the Year, while Chivita won for Best Use of Social Media.

Goldberg Black was awarded Alcoholic Brand of the Year, while Brand of the Year went to Tiger Beer from Nigerian Breweries Plc.

Modupeoluwa Aremo, Brand Business Manager of Calypso and Apperito of Grand Oak Limited was celebrated as the Inspirational Marketing Leader, and Odinaka George from C-Way Foods received the Rising Star in Marketing award. The title of Marketing Journalist of the Year went to Oluwafemi Adeyemi of BrandIconImage, and Reckitt Benckiser was named Company of the Year.

The elatted Agenmonmen stated that “this year’s theme, “Ignite,” captures the very essence of what we aspire to do: inspire a spark within each of us to push boundaries, set new standards, and elevate marketing across our nation.

According to him, “Tonight, as we gather to celebrate each other, our remarkable brands, and our shared accomplishments, we do so with a spirit of unity and shared purpose. Our journey has not been without its challenges, yet we remain unwavering in our commitment to the principles of transparency and excellence.”
