Mathieu Levasseur, Beiersdorf’s General Manager for Central, East, and West Africa (CEWA), expressed excitement about launching Eucerin in Nigeria, building on the company’s decade-long presence in the country through NIVEA. “We are proud to introduce Eucerin, the world’s first skincare brand backed by over 120 years of medical science and research,” he said.

Nathalie Gemayel, Regional Medical Manager for Africa and the Middle East, guided guests through Eucerin’s remarkable journey, from its inception in 1882 by Paul C. Beiersdorf and three pioneering chemists, to its arrival in Nigeria in 2024.

She highlighted the brand’s latest breakthrough with Thiamidol, a revolutionary molecule proven to effectively treat hyperpigmentation. Gemayel emphasized Eucerin’s success, noting, “We sell a product every two seconds globally because our solutions work. We remain committed to science, proof, and efficacy, having conducted over 1,000 clinical studies in just six years.”

“This treatment offers a safer alternative to hydroquinone and preserves natural pigmentation without interfering with normal melanocytes or natural black skin pigment. Unlike traditional bleaching agents, it does not cause melanocyte toxicity or disrupt the skin’s natural balance. It is safe for long-term use – even during pregnancy – does not enter the bloodstream, and is targeted to treat only problem areas, making it a preferred choice among patients with Skin of Colour”, Prof. Al-Niaimi said.

Eucerin’s panel discussion, led by Prof. Al-Niaimi, brought together experts to discuss product application and effectiveness. They showcased Thiamidol as a breakthrough ingredient, outperforming 50,000 other compounds in inhibiting human Tyrosinase.

The event drew prominent dermatologists and industry professionals, signaling a new era in safe and effective skincare for African skin.
