MoMo PSB appoints Bode Abifarin as MD/CEO

MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB), the fintech subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, has appointed Bode Abifarin as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026, as the company seeks to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital financial services market.

Abifarin succeeds into the role with more than 23 years of experience across financial services, consulting, digital payments, fintech, strategy and business transformation. Her appointment comes as MoMo PSB continues to expand access to digital financial services and deepen financial inclusion in line with MTN Nigeria’s digital ecosystem strategy.

Before joining MoMo PSB, Abifarin served as Chief Operating Officer at Flutterwave, where she led strategic expansion across several African markets, strengthened regulatory engagement and helped scale payment solutions that broadened financial access for millions of users. She also spent 15 years at KPMG, rising to Associate Director in Management Consulting, where she advised financial institutions and organisations across Africa on strategy, customer experience, operational transformation and business growth. Most recently, she founded Strata Advisory, a technology-focused consulting firm.

Speaking on her appointment, Abifarin described financial inclusion as one of Nigeria’s greatest opportunities for economic growth. She said she looked forward to working with regulators, partners and other stakeholders to expand access to secure, innovative and customer-focused financial solutions that improve lives and create sustainable value for individuals, businesses and communities.

Also welcoming the new CEO, Chairman of the MoMo PSB Board, Michael Ajukwu, described Abifarin as an accomplished business leader with a proven record of scaling high-growth fintech businesses across Africa. He said her experience in payments, digital transformation and stakeholder engagement, combined with her passion for financial inclusion, makes her well positioned to lead the bank into its next chapter of growth.

As Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abifarin will oversee MoMo PSB’s strategic priorities, including expanding its digital financial services offerings, driving innovation, enhancing customer experience and accelerating financial inclusion across Nigeria.

Abifarin has received several industry recognitions during her career, including being named among the Top 100 Women in Global Fintech, the Inspiring 50 Women Shaping the Future of Technology in Africa, and the 30 Most Powerful Nigerian Women in Finance. She also serves on several boards and advisory committees focused on technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and financial services.
