Enterprise Life Assurance Nigeria has appointed Nelson Akerele as its new Managing Director, succeeding Mrs. Funmilayo Omo, who led the company for five years. The company’s board confirmed the leadership change and announced it at a formal event held at the firm’s Lagos head office.
Under Omo’s leadership, Enterprise Life Nigeria experienced significant growth, focusing on digital innovation and expanding access to life insurance products across underserved markets since she joined in 2020.
Meanwhile, Akerele brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, with expertise in strategic growth, business development, and operational management.

With confidence in Akerele’s abilities, the board expects him to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. Daniel Larbi-Tieku, Group Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Group, stated, “Nelson Akerele is a proven leader with a strong understanding of the Nigerian insurance industry.
His appointment marks a new chapter for Enterprise Life Nigeria as the firm deepens its commitment to innovation and customer service.”
Akerele expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am honoured to lead Enterprise Life Nigeria at this important time. I look forward to working with the team to make insurance more accessible and impactful for Nigerians.” Previously, Funmilayo Omo emphasized the importance of insurance adoption in driving financial inclusion in the country.
