NIMN summit to champion social, governance practices

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) is championing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices at its 2025 Annual Marketing Conference and Annual General Meeting.

At a press conference in Lagos, NIMN Registrar Patience Sado explained that the institute focuses on ESG to promote sustainability for businesses and the environment.

Sado stated, “We want to drive sustainability for businesses and the environment through ESG.” The conference will provide a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and collaboration to advance the marketing profession and contribute to national development.

According to Bolaji Junaid, a Fellow of NIMN, “ESG helps businesses understand that they can make a positive impact beyond profits. It’s about sustainability, putting people first, and taking care of the planet.”

Thelma Okoli, an NIMN member, emphasized the importance of personal responsibility towards the environment. She added that the conference will include sessions on recycling and hopes to start an orientation on climate change for those who are unaware. Okoli noted,

“You can begin to store plastic bottles in your home and neighbourhood, and there are even employment opportunities in recycling for those who don’t have jobs.”

The conference, themed ‘Leveraging ESG in Driving Value Across Generations’, will be held from June 19 to 21, 2025. Sado explained that the theme highlights the Institute’s commitment to responsible innovation, digital transformation, and long-term societal impact.

The event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and valuable networking opportunities. The NIMN AGM will also be held during the conference, allowing members to review the Institute’s progress and shape its direction. Sado reaffirmed NIMN’s commitment to promoting ethical standards, capacity building, and excellence in the marketing profession.

Sado expressed gratitude to media partners for their support and urged them to amplify the Institute’s message ahead of the event. She said, “We rely on you to help raise awareness and ensure that this event receives the prominence it deserves.”
