NNPCL, FIRST E&P empower 180 schools with digital tools

The NNPCL and FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Joint Venture, in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), has successfully trained 180 teachers from six oil-producing states in the Niger Delta to use K-YAN all-in-one digital teaching and learning devices.

The Joint Venture held the training at the NCDMB Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and distributed 200 K-YAN devices, along with solar power solutions, to participating schools.

This initiative builds on the success of the first phase, where the Joint Venture distributed 100 K-YAN devices to secondary schools in 2023. The program aims to strengthen teaching capacity and improve learning outcomes through technology-driven solutions, advancing education in the Joint Venture’s host communities.

Emmanuel Etomi, Executive Director of Corporate Services at FIRST E&P, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to educational advancement, stating “This program equips today’s students – our future leaders – with the tools they need to compete in a rapidly evolving world.”

Mr. Timbiri Augustine, General Manager of Capacity Building at NCDMB, praised the initiative, noting its alignment with the board’s mission to drive human capital development. Teachers who participated in the training appreciated the initiative, with one physics teacher saying the K-YAN device would make teaching easier and learning more engaging for her students.

By implementing this initiative, the NNPC/FIRST E&P JV demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and educational advancement in its host communities.
