Special Adviser to the Ondo State Government on Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Convener of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, (GEF), Dr. Summy Smart Francis has unveiled the plan to host the world’s biggest entrepreneurship festival in Ondo State.
He disclosed this during a press briefing heralding the Global Entrepreneurship Festival held in Lagos. The event is scheduled to hold 22-24th November,2024, at the Entrepreneurship Village, Akure, with the theme:Beyond Boundaries: Poverty Eradication through Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Summy while addressing newsmen at the Global Press Conference said Ondo is a business hub where entrepreneurs can tap.
The event is designed to engage, inspire, educate, and empower entrepreneurs. It can foster collaboration and support , especially the workshops, and business forums would help create a community focused on driving entrepreneurial initiatives.
The 3-day event has attracted innovators, investors, creatives, policymakers, and industry leaders. Over 5,000 participants will converge for conferences, while 15,000 are expected to attend the closing concert on the final day.
” Moreso,12 concurrent events have been planned, these include networking sessions, business pitches to investors and venture capitalists, an awards gala, an innovation and robotics expo, a hackathon, art and creative exhibitions, a trade fair, a global leadership forum, an international women’s congress, a fashion show, and a grand closing concert.
Explaining further, Dr. Summy said that the festival is designed to address Africa’s challenges and shift our mindsets.
This event is not just about addressing poverty; it’s about transforming the way we think about entrepreneurship.”
On his part, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Mr Wale Akinlosotu, emphasized that the state is entrepreneurship driven and investors friendly.
Akinlosotu, stated that entrepreneurship was the needed weapon for poverty eradication.
The economic viability of the state includes having the second largest bitumen deposit in the world.
Akinlosotu represented the governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said the initiative have the full support of Ondo government.
“Entrepreneurship is a powerful tool to combat poverty globally. With our rich resources and business-friendly environment, our state is proud to host this groundbreaking event,” Akinlosotu stated.
Stressing a vital part and side attraction to the festival’s line-up,at the press conference,it will unite global champions in a celebration of Sport for Development, heralded by Mr. Don King, represented by Anthony Jones Esq., Founding and Managing Partner of the Jones Firm in the United States.
However,Akure, is however, set to become the epicentre of entrepreneurial innovation this November.
