Winners emerge at NMA 2025, as organisers reiterate commitment to making a difference

The Founder/Convener, Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA), Prince Tony Agenmonmen, has said the decision to introduce the annual award, four years ago, stemmed from the need to truly make a difference, in the nation’s marketing space, as winners emerged in different categories of this year’s edition of the award in Lagos.

Agenmonmen, who stated this, in his welcome address, at the award presentation, added that besides recognising outstanding works in marketing, the aim of the organisers was to create a movement, a standard, a symbol of marketing excellence and credibility in order to enhance the fortunes of the industry.

The former President, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) expressed the delight that the award had continued to live up to the purpose for which it was set up.

“We decided from the very beginning that the Nigerian Marketing Awards would not just be another marketing awards, but a movement, a standard, a symbol of marketing excellence and credibility, ” he stated.

Agenmonmen added that despite being challenging, the organisers had clung to that principle of integrity, which the award had continued to apply to its competitive and honorary categories.

He explained that the winners, from different categories of the award, were selected purely on merit, by the Award Decision Council (ADC), comprising eminent marketing professionals.

“The principle of integrity remains our North Star, and it applies equally to competitive and honorary categories. Because once integrity is compromised, recognition becomes meaningless. And that, is the difference we set out to make,” he added.

In her remarks, the Chairperson, Award Decision Council, Iquo Ukoh, expressed the Council’s delight at the industry’s growing acceptance of the recognition event, aimed at celebrating excellence in the nation’s marketing ecosystem.

Commending the winners for the outstanding marketing works, Ukoh described the over 130 entries recorded for this year’s awards, as evidence of NMA’s growing acceptance in the industry. She therefore charged her Council members to brace up, to enable them meet such growing expectations.

Ukoh, who is also the CEO of Entod Marketing Limited, explained that the diverse expertise of the jurors ensured that every entry was fairly assessed.

She identified the slump in consumer demand for goods and services as one of the challenges noticed by the Council, during the screening of this year’s entries, a development, she added, made many brands employ innovative and creative strategies to sustain demand.

While commending the brand custodians for working diligently to navigate those challenges and ensure the sustainability of their businesses, Ukoh also expressed the delight at the high standard of students entries submitted to the Council.

Lauding the organisers for braving all odds to commence the award four years ago, the Group CEO, X3M Ideas, Steve Babaeko, advised marketing practitioners to always remain focused by listening to ‘whispers’ and not the ‘noise’, around them.

“Nigeria is not short of talent. Africa is not short of brilliance. What we need is a renewed confidence in our own narrative.

“The whisper speaking to our generation is clear: we must tell our own stories, build our own institutions, defend our cultural identity, and shape the world on our own terms,” the immediate past president of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) added.

Some of the award winners include: Insight Publicis, Advertising Agency of The Year 2025; Lafarge Africa (Ecoplanet), Brand Innovation of The Year 2025; Dufil Prima, Best Use of AI in Marketing 2025; Carex -PZ Cussons, Best Rebrand of The Year; and X3M Ideas, Best Use of Social Media 2025.
