The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced an extension of the registration deadline for fintech operators, commonly known as Point of Sales (POS) operators, from July 7, 2024, to September 5, 2024.
This extension, announced on July 7, 2024, via the commission’s official social media platform, is attributed to network challenges.
In its statement, the CAC noted, “The Corporate Affairs Commission wishes to notify Fintech Operators, also known as Point of Sales (POS) Operators, that the initial deadline of July 7, 2024, for the registration of Sole Agents, Super Agents, and Agents has been extended for a period of sixty days, starting from July 7, 2024, to September 5, 2024.”
The commission emphasized that the extension is intended to provide sufficient time for operators, especially those in remote areas experiencing network issues, to register and continue their operations.
The CAC also warned that operators who fail to register by the extended deadline risk losing their businesses and facing prosecution for aiding and abetting criminal activities.
