OPay Boosts User Confidence with Enhanced NDIC Insurance Coverage

In a significant move to bolster financial security and user confidence, OPay has announced that all user funds are now insured up to ₦5 million by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

This marks a substantial increase from the previous coverage limit of ₦500,000, reflecting OPay’s commitment to safeguarding user deposits.

The enhanced insurance aligns OPay’s protection measures with those of traditional commercial banks, ensuring that users’ funds are secure in the event of any financial mishap. This update is part of a broader strategy by the NDIC to strengthen depositor confidence, stabilize the financial system, and promote financial inclusion across Nigeria.

Chidiebere Nwankwo, OPay’s Country Manager, emphasized that this new insurance coverage would offer users greater peace of mind, knowing their funds are well-protected. He stated, “At OPay, we prioritize the safety and security of our users’ funds. This new insurance coverage is a testament to our commitment to providing a secure financial environment for all our users.”

The NDIC’s decision to increase the insurance coverage limit is also seen as a response to the growing adoption of digital financial services in Nigeria. As more Nigerians turn to fintech solutions for their banking needs, ensuring the security of their deposits has become paramount.

With this new insurance coverage, OPay continues to position itself as a leading player in the Nigerian fintech space, offering innovative and secure financial services to its growing user base. This move is expected to further enhance user trust and encourage more people to adopt digital financial solutions.
