Women now occupy 31.1% of board seats in Nigeria’s 30 largest listed companies, the highest level of gender representation since the launch of the PWR Advisory NGX-30 Board Gender Diversity Scorecard in 2020. The 2025 report reveals that no company among the NGX-30 firms has an all-male board, a first since the scorecard’s inception. Notably, five of these companies are now led by female CEOs, while three firms have female board chairs, underscoring significant progress in gender inclusion and corporate governance.

At the launch event held in Lagos, Ivana Osagie, Founder and CEO of PWR Advisory, emphasized that the scorecard serves as a call to action for corporate Nigeria. She stated, “Women now hold 31.1% of board seats, the highest since we began tracking the data. For the first time, no company in our sample has an all-male board. These are markers of change, showing that commitment and action yield results.”
Osagie also highlighted the need for women to hold influential positions in board leadership and strategic decision-making, noting, “Representation without power and influence is a fragile victory. Diversity without inclusion is unfinished work.”
The 2025 scorecard ranked Transcorp Hotels Plc first with 57.1% female board representation, followed by Access Holdings Plc and Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, both with 50%.
